CHRIST OF THE LIGHT MOSQUE - Interior

Descripción

The Muslim craftsmen who built this mosque used humble materials such as brick, plaster, wood, and masonry, as this is one of the precepts dictated by Islam, where true wealth should always be arranged inside, never visible on the outside. For this reason, in this small Greek cross-shaped temple, the nine squares divided by horseshoe arches with their nine spectacular domes stand out, each one different, with the central dome, taller and composed of reused Visigothic capitals, being particularly noteworthy. Unfortunately, today we do not have some important parts of the old mosque such as the mihrab that we know was located next to the qibla wall or the minaret from where the muezzin called the faithful to prayer five times a day, but archaeological remains have confirmed that it was situated next to the current church apse.
