Descripción

The facade of the Church of the Jesuits is elevated above a beautiful staircase and is composed of two stone bodies framed by two twin towers made of brick. In the first body, there are four Corinthian columns that support an entablature and frame the main entrance formed by a large semicircular arch. Above this entrance, there is a relief created by Diego Rodríguez Luna depicting the popular scene of the “Imposition of the chasuble on Saint Ildefonso”, as well as the coats of arms of the Manrique de Castilla family and the images of the Jesuits Francis Xavier and Francis of Borja. In the second body of the facade, of smaller size, stand out four columns, the coat of arms of the religious order, and the saints Louis Gonzaga and Stanislaus Kostka. The entire ensemble is topped by the attic with the figure of the founder of the Jesuits, Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
