The construction of this religious temple dedicated to this French saint dates back to the 11th century, before the establishment of the court in the city, but the truth is that it was during the Habsburg period when the church experienced its moment of splendor as it was here that great personalities of the Golden Age such as Francisco de Quevedo or Lope de Vega were baptized or married, respectively. Today, we find an oratory that has been greatly transformed throughout history but where we can find great works of art such as the canvas of "The Expulsion of the Merchants from the Temple" by El Greco, in addition to other paintings by great artists such as Alonso Cano, Francisco Ricci, or Luca Giordano.
