To finish with the last of the key places within Carlos III's project for the Prado Salon, we find ourselves in front of the Prado Museum, a building that was designed as a Cabinet of Natural Sciences at the end of the 18th century. It wasn't until 1819 when the wife of King Fernando VII, Isabel de Braganza, decided to establish the royal family's painting collections in this building, which came to be known as the "Royal Museum of Painting." The design of the building was the work of the renowned architect Juan de Villanueva and from its beginnings, it has suffered the consequences of the armed conflicts in which our country has been involved, such as the War of Independence or the Civil War.
