At this point we leave behind the enlightened reforms to address a sad event in the history of Spain, as after the good government of Charles III, his son and grandson, Charles IV and Ferdinand VI, allowed the entry of French troops led by Napoleon into our country in 1808 under the pretext of the invasion of Portugal. As we know, the French did not comply with the treaty, they stayed in Spain with the aim of taking possession of it, thus beginning a bloody war - the famous May 2, 1808, the day of the Community of Madrid - that lasted six years. After these long years with Joseph Bonaparte on the throne, the Bourbon monarchy returned to our country with Ferdinand VII.
