Currently, the museum has three classical facades dedicated to three Spanish painters - Murillo, Velázquez, and Goya - with the main one facing Paseo del Prado. In this facade, we can find a classical portico with the representation of "Fernando VII receiving the tributes of Minerva and the Fine Arts" created by Ramón Barba in 1931 as an allegory to the promotion of arts carried out during his mandate. Nowadays, the neoclassical building designed by Juan de Villanueva is complemented by the expansion carried out by the architect Rafael Moneo in 2007, which involved using the cloister of the nearby church of the Jerónimos and the space between both buildings to create new areas for workshops, offices, and temporary exhibition rooms. In the future, another expansion project will be carried out by the prestigious architect Norman Foster, which will include the Salón de Reinos from the extinct Buen Retiro Palace in the museum complex.
