Nowadays, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando is considered the second most important art gallery in the city and the second place specialized in the figure of Francisco de Goya after the Prado National Museum, since this renowned artist had an intense relationship with the institution after being rejected twice until he was accepted as an Academic of Merit in the year 1780. By receiving donations from all the artists who trained there, it has managed to form immense collections of over 1400 paintings, 600 sculptures, and 15,000 drawings, not to mention the collections of engravings, decorative arts, documentation, and library.
